Vacuum excavation is a high-tech site investigation tool that uses high-pressure compressed air and water jets to loosen and remove shallow soil, completely eliminating the hazard of accidentally struck cables or pipelines. RemedX routinely uses the technique to drill pilot holes on live forecourts and even uses it on Tier 1 Control of Major Accidents Hazards (CoMAH) sites. RemedX introduced vacuum excavation to the UK, which has subsequently been adopted as best practice within the utility industry
